Malala Fights Religious Oppression

An inspiring child to a powerful and articulate young girl, Malala Yousafzai speaks out for human rights!

Pragna Patel writes in support of an extraordinary young woman fighting against  religion and oppression in Pakistan and globally.

“It is so depressing to see Malala’s courageous and inspirational stand against religious fundamentalism being denounced as nothing more than a western media conspiracy and hypocrisy, which she is deemed guilty of abetting. Unfortunately, it is an all too familiar charge made by those who wish to silence internal dissent against religious fundamentalist power. The truth is that Malala, like many of the women who attend SBS, are speaking out for themselves. Their actions show us that in fighting for human rights and dignity we don’t need to take infantile ‘you’re either with us or with them’ positions that only tell half the story.”
