Southall Black Sisters is carrying out a survey of professionals to ascertain the scale of abuse involving the issue of transnational marriage abandonment or ‘stranded spouses’.
For background information, please see here. We invite professionals to complete this survey based on working with women in these circumstances. The results will be used to bring about much-needed changes in family and immigration law and policy in the UK in order to end this practice and better protect women facing this form of abuse.
This should only take a few minutes of your time. We thank you in advance. Please also share this survey with your networks: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/6THDGZ8
If you know any women affected by this issue, you can also invite them to share their experiences directly by sharing this link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/6M3ZHF2
Both surveys will close on Tuesday 31 March.
Abandonment abroad is a form of domestic abuse perpetrated on vulnerable women. SBS has long campaigned for the government to make changes to family and immigration law so that women are better protected and have access to their rights.
For background information, please see here. If this has happened to you, we invite you to share your experiences in this survey. This can be done anonymously.
The results will be used to help SBS to change law and policy in the UK to end this practice and support women who have suffered from this form of abuse.
