Reform No Recourse to Public Funds Campaign

Resources:

On 21 November 2023, we convened a Public Meeting on Migrant Women, Domestic Abuse and No Recourse to Public Funds online. The meeting discussed Sarah Champion MP’s amendment to the Victims and Prisoners Bill to provide services for all migrant victims of domestic abuse, including by lifting the no recourse to public funds (NRPF) condition. It also provided attendees with information on how to support the amendment as well as the broader Southall Black Sisters (SBS)-led campaign to lift the NRPF condition.

Speakers include:

  • Chair – Selma Taha, Executive Director, Southall Black Sisters
  • Sarah Champion MP
  • Elizabeth Jiménez-Yáñez, Policy and Communications Manager, Latin American Women’s Rights Service
  • Hannana Siddiqui, Head of Policy, Campaigns and Research, Southall Black Sisters
  • Kulsum – Survivor

This campaign is part of a Changemakers initiative led by Southall Black Sisters. Partners include Latin American Women’s Rights Service, Safey4Sisters and Ubuntu.
